When do the Commonwealth Games finish?

Athletes all across the world have been taking part in the 22nd Commonwealth Games.

The 12-day-long sporting event kicked off with a magnificent opening ceremony on Thursday, July 28, and will begin to see a wide range of events take place all across the West Midlands over the coming days. The Commonwealth Games are held every four years and were last held in Glasgow in 2014.

This year, the games will see 280 medal events take place across 20 different sports. In fact, the Birmingham games boast the largest para-sport programme ever seen and have eight sports on offer.

The games will come to an end on Monday, August 8 and will go out with a bang as the city hosts a closing ceremony on the final day of the Games. The final event of the games will include the men's hockey final with badminton, diving, table tennis and squash scores being revealed at around the same time, closely followed by the closing ceremony will begin at 8.30pm and end at 10pm.

Fans will be able to watch the closing ceremony live on BBC One on the TV or watch it on a smartphone, tablet or computer via BBC iPlayer. Certain events will also be available to watch throughout the Games on BBC Two, BBC Three, and BBC Four with even more findable via the red button.
