When do Nottingham schools break up for summer 2022? Holiday dates for Nottinghamshire pupils

The summer school holidays are fast approaching and many parents want to get ahead and plan for the six weeks off. Yet the dates vary depending on which area of Nottinghamshire you are in.

Nottingham City Council schools are breaking up for the summer holidays on Wednesday 27 July. Children at these schools will be off until Monday 5 September.

The City Council schools have an inset day on Friday 2 September and so term begins the following week. For schools under Nottinghamshire County Council, they will break up for summer on Thursday 28 July.

Pupils at those schools will return for the new term on Thursday 1 September as the 31 August is an administration day. It means children at County Council schools get a slightly shorter summer holiday than the City Council schools.

The term dates set by Nottinghamshire County Council are followed by schools in Ashfield District Council, Bassetlaw District Council, Broxtowe District Council, Gedling Borough Council, Mansfield District Council, Newark and Sherwood District Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council.

The councils do aim to ensure there isn't much differences between council run schools and academies to allow for stability and consistency.

Foundation, Trust, Voluntary Aided schools, and Free Schools are also responsible for setting their own holiday patterns which may differ from the council's schedules. Schools are also closed for five inset days in the academic year which are decided by the individual school.

It would be best to check with individual schools which dates they are closing on and setting aside for administration days.
