When Celtic 'expect' Callum McGregor to return after derby absence

Celtic reportedly expect Callum McGregor to be fit to face Heart of Midlothian next Saturday.

The skipper missed last Sunday's 3-2 defeat to Rangers at Parkhead through a calf issue.

McGregor hadn't trained with his teammates in the week leading up to the hotly anticipated clash, and despite leaving a final verdict on his availability until late in the day, he still didn't feature.

The 31-year-old, however, is expected to be back in contention to face Hearts next Saturday, claims SunSport

McGregor is reportedly 'desperate' to return, with central defensive duo Auston Trusty and Liam Scales also fighting to be back fit soon.

Long-term absentees Paulo Bernardo and James Forrest are 'edging closer' to returns as Brendan Rodgers looks to wrap up a sought-after domestic treble before the campaign's end.

His side welcome Neil Critchley's men to Glasgow next weekend before travelling to face St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park at the beginning of April.

Four victories away from securing their 55th league title, Celtic will be looking to promptly bounce back from their derby defeat after the international break.
