When can I watch This England? Release date for new Sky series on Boris Johnson

A new trailer has been released for This England - a new five-part Sky drama that focuses on Boris Johnson's first months as UK Prime Minister. The series, which has been written by Michael Winterbottom and Kieran Quirke, sees Academy Award-winning actor Kenneth Branagh in the lead role as Johnson.

Ever since the series was first announced, viewers have been shocked by the make-up transformation that Branagh went through in order to become the departing Prime Minister. The series also stars Broadchurch's Andrew Buchan as disgraced MP Matt Hancock, Ophelia Lovibond as Carrie Johnson and Simon Paisley-Day as Dominic Cummings.

Over the course of five episodes, Johnson's divisive tenure as Prime Minister will be explored, with the Covid-19 pandemic at the forefront of the action. The new trailer for the series has shown clips of Johnson's time in intensive care after he caught coronavirus himself. But when exactly does this new series release?

This England is set to debut on Sky Atlantic and NowTV on Wednesday, September 21. There will be five episodes in the series.

Here is the plot summary from Sky: “This England will tell the tale of some of the most devastating events to ever befall the United Kingdom, and of a Prime Minister leading in these unprecedented times.
