When Bristol can expect rain after heatwave

Things are set to get extremely hot over the next week here in Bristol - and many are already wondering when we might expect to see a bit of rain. Whether you're worried about your garden, or simply want the heavens to open for a bit of a break from this heatwave, you may have a little longer to wait.

Temperatures are set to reach highs of around 32°C, particularly on Monday and Tuesday next week (July 18 and 19), according to the Met Office - with an Amber warning in place for 'Extreme heat'. And, though parts of the city were treated to a few showers yesterday, the next rainfall is scheduled for next Wednesday, July 20, according to the BBC's weather forecast.

According to the forecast, Wednesday will see pretty much a full day of rain and the Met Office mentions "occasional thundery showers" in the south and southwest in its long-range forecast.

UK long range weather forecast

The Met Office forecasts: "Sunny and dry conditions will prevail for most under the influence of high pressure at the start of this period, though showers are likely across the north and northwest at times. Temperatures near normal in the far northwest but remaining warm or very warm for the rest of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

"Very warm or hot for England and Wales, with the potential for an exceptionally hot spell in parts of central, south, and east England. It is likely that much of the UK will see temperatures gradually decrease to average or slightly above average through next week, though occasional thundery showers are possible in the south and southwest.

"Looking more widely unsettled during the later part of the period."
