It is the most heartwarming and tear-jerking awards ceremony in the British calendar, and it's almost here.
Every year Pride of Britain celebrates the achievements of truly remarkable people who make our society a better place - and show the world why we're honoured to be British.
This year - the 20th anniversary of the awards - is set to be an extra special event.
Presented by Carol Vorderman, the ceremony attracts a glittering array of celebrities - but the real stars are the award winners themselves. They devote their lives to helping others and changing the world.
So how can you nominate someone for an award and what can you expect as we celebrate two decades of a national institution? We reveal all...
What is Pride of Britain?
The Pride of Britain Awards celebrate the extraordinary acts, bravery and spirit of members of the British public who have been nominated and voted for by those who believe in them most.
Daily Mirror Editor-in-Chief Lloyd Embley says: "These awards are so important because they recognise ordinary people who do extraordinary things.
"Over the years we have seen so many examples of incredible spirit and courage of the British people, and I’m sure this year will be no different."
The first Pride of Britain Awards were held in 1999, making this year the 20th anniversary.
When are the Pride of Britain awards?
The 2019 Pride of Britain Awards will be screened on ITV on November 5, 2019 at 8pm.
The ceremony itself was held on October 28, 2019.
How do I nominate?
Nominations for the 2019 awards closed on 30 August, and are now being considered by the Pride of Britain team.
If you've missed the deadline, you can always nominate somebody for the 2020 awards. Nominations for next year opened on 7 October, and now you can nominate here.
You can nominate people, or groups of people, in the following Pride of Britain award categories:
TSB Community Partner Award
For an individual or group of people who have worked together in partnership as a force for good in their local community, improving the lives of people around them. This could be anything from supporting young people to thrive to bringing communities together to create something special. The winner or winners will have galvanised the support of the people around them to make a difference.
ITV Fundraiser of the Year
For tireless and inspirational charity fundraising, aged 16 and over.
Good Morning Britain Young Fundraiser of the Year
To reward a young person aged 15 and under for inspirational charity work.
This Morning Emergency Services Award
For police, fire, ambulance, paramedics or air, sea or mountain rescue who have gone beyond the call of duty.
Outstanding Bravery
For adults who risk their own safety to help others in danger.
Child/Teenager of Courage
For battling against the odds to help others, or putting themselves at risk to save someone in danger.
Lifetime Achievement
To recognise far-reaching achievement, possibly on a national or international scale.
Special Recognition
For achievements not covered in other categories, such as inspiring carers, campaigners and members of armed forces
Who judges the winners?
The team of judges this year included Christine Lampard, Susanna Reid, Eamonn Holmes , and - of course - Carol Vorderman.
Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna told the Mirror Online it was an 'extraordinary privilege' to be asked to take part in the judging process again this year.
"It's really interesting in talking to the new judges and they're saying 'How on earth do you decide?'
"What we want to do is give everyone an award because they are they are all the pride of Britain. It's a massive challenge," she said.
Who were the Pride of Britain winners last year?
The first of 2018's winners to be announced was West Midlands Fire Service who were awarded the This Morning Emergency Services Award.
They were honoured for saving Phil Ewins who was on his way to propose to his girlfriend Dikla Arad when he crashed his car - and was impaled by a 10ft metal pole.
Against all odds, firefighters from Highgate Fire Station were able to save his life. The operation was caught on body cam.
The crew were special guests at Phil's wedding in July 2018.
"That night I was incredibly lucky – lucky it was that crew, in that area," he said.
"They were able to make all the right decisions at the right time. They were all world class. Without them I would have died. Instead, I've been able to get married and lift my wife for our wedding photos."
Ella Chadwick won the Child of Courage award. After having a kidney transplant, she raised thousands for charity to thank the doctors and nurses who helped her.
Eight-year-old Edward Mills was the Good Morning Britain Young Fundraiser of the year. He climbed the Old Man of Hoy, raising £35,000 for a cancer charity in honour of his terminally ill mum.
Joe Rowlands , 14, won the Teenager of Courage award. He saved his dad Paul's life when their kayak capsized, and they were forced to swim through icy waters. Joe's dad developed hypothermia and lost consciousness, but Joe dragged him from the water and performed CPR.
A spokesperson from the lifeboat crew that rescued them said "If Joe hadn’t been as strong as he was, Paul wouldn’t be around today."
Emma Picton-Jones won the special recognition award. After her husband took his own life, she set up a charity to support farmers with their mental health.
87-year-old Icolyn Smith won the TSB Community Partner award in 2018. She has run the Oxford Community Soup Kitchen for over 28 years, providing food and clothing to those in need.
Last year's Special Recognition Award went to the Men and Women of the RAF . 2018 was the centenary of the Royal Air Force, and heroes such as Paul Farnes, who is the last surviving Battle of Britain ace, and Johnny Johnson, the last of the Dambusters, were both honoured at Pride of Britain.
Omar Sharif won the Prince's Trust Young Achiever award. The 26-year-old became involved with a gang when he was 16, but after three of his friends were killed as a result of knife crime, he realised that he needed to turn his life around.
He is now a motivational speaker who visits schools and prisons to share his story.
The British Cave Rescue Team who risked their lives to save 12 Thai boys and their football coach from a flooded cave in Thailand won the Outstanding Bravery Award.
Eddie O'Gorman OBE won the Lifetime Achievement Award. After both their children died of cancer, he and his late wife Marion founded the Children with Cancer UK charity, and have raised over £230 million. They have funded vital research into paediatric oncology.
Who presents the awards?
The awards ceremony is hosted by Carol Vorderman , who has presented the awards since they were launched.
"Our Pride of Britain winners share two traits," she says. "They are totally selfless, and also incredibly modest about their achievements.
"That’s why we need people to tell us about them. So if you know an unsung hero, whether it’s someone who has changed one life or changed the world, tell us about them today."
