When are the NTAs 2022 on TV? Channel, start time, how to vote, presenter and shortlist

The National Television Awards are returning to celebrate television's best-loved shows and stars. The presenter has been confirmed, the shortlist of nominees announced and voting to the general public is open.

The ceremony will take place live from Wembley and will be broadcast on ITV for those who were unable to purchase tickets. The winners of each category will be announced during the show, which is set to be opened by Eurovision star Sam Ryder.

The NTAs are going ahead a little later than planned. The ceremony was due to take place on September 15, however, ITV bosses decided to postpone as the country entered a 10-day period of mourning following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

But who is hosting the National Television Awards, what channel will the ceremony broadcast on, what time will it air and when does voting close? Here's everything you need to know.

When are the National Television Awards 2022?

The NTAs will go ahead on Thursday, October 13. The ceremony will broadcast live on ITV from 8pm.

Those tuning in at home can hunker down for a two-and-a-half-hour show, as the programme doesn't wrap up until 10:30pm on the channel.

Joel Dommett will host the 27th National Television Awards as hundreds of stars and thousands of fans gather for the biggest night in British TV. Broadcast from the OVO Arena, Wembley, the NTAs celebrate television's best-loved shows and stars.

It will be Joel's second time hosting the awards after taking over the reins from the previous presenter David Walliams in 2021.

Speaking about this year's event, Joel told This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield: "It's some amazing people presenting awards who are really big. It's the weird thing where I'm saying it out of my mouth in a script meeting and thinking, 'I can’t believe they're going to be here'. It's mad.

"The line-up is incredible and it feels like we've got way more big moments than last year. Last year, there were all these rules and regulations coming out of Covid."

How can I vote in the National Television Awards 2022?

The NTAs are the only television awards ceremony where the winners are chosen exclusively by viewers, and the national vote results are revealed live on the night. Those hoping to cast a vote for their favourite star or show can do so on the official National Television Awards website.

Final voting is open to the general public right up until noon on the day of the ceremony [Thursday, October 13].

Can I get tickets for the National Television Awards 2022?

Yes. Tickets are available to purchase on the official National Television Awards website.
