When are the last trains leaving this weekend in light of ScotRail's reduced timetable?

ScotRail announced a reduced timetable as a result of staff shortages.

SCOTRAIL introduced a reduced timetable this week in light of driver shortages, which has resulted in almost 700 fewer train services per day.

Scotland’s Transport Minister Jenny Gilruth told MSPs on Thursday that she believed more services would return soon.  

However, with the reduced timetable still in operation, below is a list of the last trains between some of the major cities over the weekend.

Edinburgh

The last train leaving Edinburgh Waverley for Glasgow Queen Street on Friday night is at 11.46pm and 11.45pm on the Saturday.

The last train between the capital and Aberdeen on Friday is at 8.34pm, although on Saturday it is at the earlier time of 6.36pm.

The final service between Edinburgh and Inverness on both Friday and Saturday is scheduled for 6.40pm.

Other late trains leaving Edinburgh include:

11.00pm Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy

11.18pm Edinburgh to Glenrothes via Dunfermline

11.30pm Edinburgh to Stirling

Glasgow

The final service available from Glasgow to Edinburgh Waverley on Friday is at 11.45pm and 11.22pm on Saturday.

Anyone heading from Glasgow Queen Street to Inverness won’t be able to leave on any train later than 7.07pm on Friday and 7.06pm on Saturday.

The final train between Glasgow and Aberdeen on Friday is scheduled to depart at 7.45pm whilst on Saturday the last service is at the slightly earlier time of 6.41pm.

The final trains leaving Glasgow Central to various areas include:

11.30pm Glasgow Central – Ayr

11.21pm Glasgow Central – Gourock

11.24pm Gourock – Glasgow Central

10.28pm East Kilbride – Glasgow Central

11.17pm Glasgow Central – East Kilbride

11.05pm Glasgow Central – Neilston

Aberdeen

Those leaving Aberdeen for Glasgow Queen Street will have to do so by 7.15pm on both Friday and Saturday evening.

The final train from Aberdeen heading to Edinburgh leaves at the slightly later time of 9.35pm on Friday and Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, the last service from Aberdeen to Inverness on Friday and Saturday evening is at 6.18pm.

Nothing is available after the final train on Saturday until 10.03am the following morning.

The last train from Aberdeen to Inverurie is at 10.49pm on Friday and Saturday evening.

Inverness

The last train from Inverness to Edinburgh on Friday and Saturday evening departs at 6.53pm.

The final Friday train to Glasgow Queen Street from Inverness leaves at 5.26pm and at 5.24pm.

Anyone wishing to travel to Aberdeen from Inverness on Friday or Saturday won’t be able to get a train any later than 6.05pm.
