When and where Celtic can secure Scottish Premiership title after Kilmarnock win

Celtic are on the verge of securing their fourth consecutive Scottish Premiership title after beating Kilmarnock this afternoon.

Brendan Rodgers' men are within touching distance of being crowned champions of Scotland thanks to a 5-1 victory over the Rugby Park outfit.

The champagne was left on ice last weekend after a shock 1-0 loss to St Johnstone, although the corks could soon be popped after today's triumph.

Indeed, Celtic can be crowned champions of Scotland as early as TOMORROW should Aberdeen beat Rangers at Pittodrie.

If Barry Ferguson's men win or draw in the northeast, however, the Parkhead side will need to wait until the first game back after the annual Scottish Premiership split to wrap up the title.

The match will be played on the weekend of 26/27 April, and Celtic will need to win to secure the championship. It remains to be seen who they will play, with the post-split fixtures yet to be announced.

Before then, Rodgers' men have a Scottish Cup semi-final to contend with as their treble hopes go on the line against St Johnstone at Hampden next weekend.

Their recent loss to the McDiarmid Park side won't play on Celtic's minds going into the game, according to centre-half Cameron Carter-Vickers: "In a semi or in any cup game, anything can happen," he said.

"But we’ve played enough of them now that, whether we had that reset or not, we’d have been ready to compete."
