Football is officially back… in some form. Tonight the 2023 NFL season will sort-of begin with the first preseason game of the year as the New York Jets will be facing the Cleveland Browns in Canton, Ohio for the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game.
It’s usually the least-compelling game of the entire NFL calendar, but it’s still live pro football at its highest level, and we haven’t gotten to see that in six months. Unless you’re getting paid to, we don’t recommend watching this or any other preseason games. However, if you’re determined to get your fix, here’s all the info you need for tonight’s broadcast.
What: Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets
When: Thursday, August 3rd, 5:00 p.m. Pacific, 8:00 p.m. Eastern
Where: Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, Canton, Ohio
Watch: The game will be broadcast nationally on NBC
Stream: The game will also be streamed on Peacock and FuboTV
Broadcasters: Mike Tirico, Cris Collinsworth, Melissa Stark
Why: We likely won’t get to see either Aaron Rodgers or Deshaun Watson on the field tonight. In fact, starters rarely play at all in the HOF game. Teams tend to use this game as a way to evaluate the players on their roster bubble – meaning mostly third-stringers and practice squad candidates. That said, it’s still an NFL game.
Odds: For the true degenerates, Cleveland is a 2.5-point favorite.
