Channel 4 property programme Location, Location, Location has been filming in Edinburgh over the last month, with hosts Kirstie Allsopp and Phil Spencer spotted in the capital lately.
With the popular show hitting the capital once again in 2022, it's only fair that we look back at a previous episode that included our wonderful wee city on the show.
So, let's take a deep dive into one of the episodes past that featured Edinburgh on Location, Location, Location and the outcome of these property hunters aims.
One buyer in this episode captured the hearts of the nation, and we'll find out who soon enough!

Season 25, Episode Three - Edinburgh and the Lothians
The blurb for this episode reads: "Kirstie and Phil go property searching in and around Edinburgh house-hunting for motor mad Ian and expectant couple Jane and Rogan."
Host Phil teamed up with couple Jane and Rogan, expecting a baby, who are searching for a new family home, and Kirstie was paired with car fanatic Ian, who "wants more of a garage than a home".
According to Phil, Edinburgh and the Lothians "boasts an irresistible blend of history, natural beauty and culture", but as most cities do, it comes at a hefty price tag when living here.
Kirstie fact-checked that Edinburgh is one of the most expensive cities to live outside of London, and at the time, homes in East Lothian jumped in price by 11 per cent over the last 12 months.
Average prices in East Lothian were pushing £229,397, so it was going to be tricky to find a bargain in between all the expensive flats and three-bed homes.
Computer programmer Ian Stewart was first up on the show to find a home to house his motor mad needs, as he searched for a home complete with a barn nearby to suit his Land Rover obsession.
As soon as he stepped foot onto screen, Twitter users were raving about Ian's positive attitude and can-do mentality, taking to social media to share their thoughts.
One Twitter user said: "Totally lovin Ian on @C4Locations Top bloke. #locationlocationlocation"
Another wrote: "Loved the #CustardPilot on #C4Locations. #niceguy"
And a third said: "#c4locations obsessed with Ian!"
Further comments read: "What a nice man Ian is. #c4locations", and "Catching up with this week's @C4Locations now - that motor-mad Ian is a really decent sort. So likable. Wish him the happiest future."
And with a budget of £245,000, Ian is well-equipped to trek around the east coast for his perfect home to retire in - if the praise for his character wasn't enough to begin with!
The criteria includes:
- A large workshop with plenty of parking
- One bedroom in the home
- A large kitchen area
- Both home and workshop to ideally be on the same plot
First, Kirstie looked at a cottage in East Linton, and a barn six miles away in North Berwick, East Lothian.
The barn would be rented out for just £208 per calendar month, and the cottage is on for offers over £195,000 - and has two more bedrooms than Ian initially asked for!
Ian rated the combination a 6 out of 10, but said he'd definitely be more interested if the other homes weren't up to scratch.
Next on the list was a home in Elsrickle in Biggar, complete with a barn next door, all for a price tag of offers over £160,000.
Iain was happy with this property search, but wanted to view the last house-hunt in order to make up his mind completely.
Finally, Kirstie and Ian headed east to the Berwickshire coast to look at a barn and home combination in Coldingham, an hours drive outside of the city centre of Edinburgh.
The workshop is up for £70,000, and could become a home and car garage in one, given the sheer amount of space available.
The three-bedroom stone cottage across the road is on the market for £185,000, but Kirstie wasn't convinced that Ian would even need that space.
However, the home was too far away for Ian's liking, meaning that the Elsrickle home was top of the list for the car fanatic.
Next up are policy researcher Jane and clinical hypnotherapist Rogan, who were three months away from welcoming a new life into the world.
They are looking for a family home to set up a new life in, as Jane's flat in Edinburgh was becoming too much for the mum-to-be to handle, as the three flights of stairs were getting harder to climb.
With a budget of £270,000, these are the main aims for a home for the couple:
- Spacious, three-bedroom home
- Large kitchen space
- Good-sized garden
- Off-road parking
Phil took the duo to a main-door tenement flat in the Newington area of Edinburgh, complete with three bedrooms, a shared garden and an area for Rogan to work from home - all at a price of £230,000.
This didn't impress the couple, however, as they were expecting a bigger kitchen.
Next up was a modern, detached home in the area of Gilmerton, four miles outwith the city centre. There's a large living-room, a separate dining area and even office space for Rogan.
The home is up for £205,000, a much better investment for the couple with a baby on the way.
However, Jane felt the home was missing the 'zing factor', and wasn't convinced by the layout of the home - Rogan wasn't so negative, and felt he could make it work.
The next home was a property in Lasswade, in Midlothian, six miles from the city centre of Edinburgh.
There are four bedrooms in this home, with one able to switch into an office for Rogan, and a large kitchen area that Jane is so adamant on.
The 1970's era detached home is on the market for offers over £245,000, and looks to be a perfect fit for the couple.
This home looked to be a smash hit for Phil, as both Jane and Rogan agreed that they could definitely set up family life in Lasswade.
Last up for the couple was a new build in Burdiehouse, three miles closer to Edinburgh's city centre.
This home was the most expensive on the list at just under £269,000, it comes complete with four double bedrooms, a family bathroom, ensuite and a private garden and garage to the rear of the property.
It ended up being the top performer, as Jane and Rogan began preparations to buy the new build home in Burdiehouse.
After getting three grand off the selling price, the four-bedroom home in Burdiehouse came out on top, and they secured their home after much deliberation between Jane and Rogan.
In the end, Ian decided that none of the properties on the market were of his liking, but in July 2015, he followed up a lead that Kirstie gave him on a property south-west of Edinburgh, he secured his perfect home.
So, after much indecision and deliberation, both parties ended up with the homes they dreamed of, meaning Phil and Kirstie's trip to Edinburgh was a successful one after all!
