A wheelchair user was left stunned after an Ayrshire car dealership gave him a motor for free.
Alex Harvey was gifted a new set of wheels by James Little Street Cars after the manager spotted him in town in a large disability van that was costing him 'a fortune'.
The 64-year-old man suffered injuries from a motorbike accident in 1982 that left him wheelchair-bound.
Grateful Alex was thrilled when manager Jamie English offered him the Suzuki Wagon R, which is fully adapted for a wheelchair driver, pro-bono.
Former army man Alex said: "I was in the town one day and Jamie said to me he had something for me. On Monday morning I went down to the dealership and there was a car sitting there just for me.
"I was told it was mine for free. There were a few minor things needing done to the car but it sailed through its MOT.
"It came as a complete surprise to me and I'm over the moon with it.
"I was driving around in a big Renault master van. The wee Suzuki is saving me a fortune; I put £20 in it and forget about it. Especially with the price of petrol just now, I really appreciate it.
"It's only done 37,000 miles, it's absolutely amazing!"
Jamie English, who has been the manager of James Little Street Cars for just over two years, said: "I saw Alex going around the town in his big van and I knew the smaller car would be better for him.
"I thought to myself we had the Suzuki which is fully equipped for a wheelchair user and asked the owner Andy McColm if we could give it away for free.
"It was very generous of the office to do the giveaway because the car probably costs the guts of £5,500.
"When I told Alex the car is his, he was delighted.
"Those cars are quite rare and that wee car will be brilliant for him."
