If you're needing to quickly fix an embarrassing typo, WhatsApp now allows users to edit their sent messages.
We've all experienced that spark of annoyance when seeing a typo a millisecond after hitting send. Now the huge messaging platform is allowing users to make edits 15 minutes after sending.
Whether you need to add extra context or if your typo completely changes a text, all you need to do is long-press on a sent message and choose 'Edit' from the menu.
Edited messages will be marked as such alongside them so everyone is aware of the correction without showing edit history.
If the feature isn't on your mobile phone yet, don't worry - WhatsApp says the feature's global rollout will take weeks. The new feature brings the app in line with iMessage, Signal and Telegram which already offer the ability to edit.
WhatsApp noted: "As with all personal messages, media and calls, your messages and the edits you make are protected by end-to-end encryption."
There is an ongoing row with the messaging platform over the Online Safety Bill which WhatsApp claims "compromises" the privacy of all users. WhatsApp has threatened to leave the UK if the proposed bill becomes law.
