WhatsApp’s long-rumored HD photo and video sharing tool is now up and running, giving users a chance to share “epic moments” now that the service options are out of beta testing and into the hands of customers.
Meta (META) -) CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the new HD features in mid-August and now that rollout has gone live as of September 6.
DON’T MISS: Mark Zuckerberg makes a bold move.
“Sharing photos on WhatsApp just got an upgrade,” Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated on August 17, on his Meta broadcast channel via Instagram. “Now you can send in HD.”
Almost three weeks later, WhatsApp made it official.
“Both HD photos and HD videos have rolled out globally,” WhatsApp spokesperson Ellie Heatrick told The Verge. WhatsApp also released a same-day promotional video on Threads to support the announcement.
The switch to HD enables platform users to send high-quality, high-resolution images and videos from Android, iOS, or via the internet.
WhatsApp users will now see an “HD” gear image on the app in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. All the user needs to do is press either “standard quality” or “HD Quality”. Hit the preferred option and go ahead and share the “crisp and clear” (WhatsApp’s terms) image or video with your group.
