WhatsApp releases new game-changing feature in latest update

People who use WhatsApp on their iPhones are being urged to make sure they have the most up-to-date version of the app on their devices so they can use the newest feature of the messaging service.

After a long time, the platform is now rolling out the option to edit a text even after they have been sent, meaning any accidental messages can be avoided, but only if you have WhatsApp version 23.12.76 downloaded onto your device.

Once you have the most recent version, you will then be able to make any changes for up to 15 minutes, you can also add emojis, expand the conversation or just completely change what was initially sent.

If you hold down your finger on the message, then a list of options will then appear including edit, once you tap on this then you can make your changes before simply hitting the blue tick to see your message update.

WhatsApp explained in a blog post: "For the moments when you make a mistake, or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages.

"From correcting a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message, we’re excited to bring you more control over your chats. All you need to do is long-press on a sent message and choose ‘Edit’ from the menu for up to fifteen minutes after."

Although the update was in fact announced last month, many iPhone users are only seeing the changes now as WhatsApp confirms it is rolling the new feature out slowly worldwide.

To check and see if you are running the most recent version of the app, then head to the App Store and search for the application, if it shows a blue message with the word update then you need to do so. You will then be able to edit.
