WhatsApp issue warning to iPhone and Android users as services will soon stop working

WhatsApp users have been issued with an urgent warning that they have just days to use the messaging service, as it will cease working on certain devices.

This change for both Android and iPhone users is set to come into place on December 31, 2022, reports the Daily Record. The switch-up is also part of the tech giant's latest round of app updates.

The change will mostly impact those who use an older device, which has been included in a 47-strong list provided by WhatsApp. These devices do not have operating systems capable of hosting WhatsApp's latest features.

"To choose what to stop supporting, every year we, like other technology companies, look at which devices and software are the oldest and have the fewest number of people still using them.

"These devices also might not have the latest security updates, or might lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp."
