What Yves Bissouma did after Tottenham's Champions League win vs Marseille

Yves Bissouma made his Champions League debut on Wednesday evening as he came on for the final few minutes of Tottenham's 2-0 win over Marseille. Joining from Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer, the Mali international has mainly had to settle for minutes off the substitutes' bench so far.

Playing the full game in the 1-1 draw with West Ham just over a week ago, Bissouma was back on the Spurs bench for the 2-1 win over Fulham but unfortunately did not get on. However, he returned to the pitch four days later as Antonio Conte brought him on to help see out the remaining five minutes against Marseille.

The summer signing looked set to come on 10 minutes or so earlier with the score at 0-0, but Spurs' planned double change of Bissouma and Ryan Sessegnon were told to sit back down after Richarlison opened the scoring seconds earlier. He was introduced in place of Rodrigo Bentancur in the 85th minute, with Matt Doherty replacing Son Heung-min at the same time.

Clearly very pleased to mark his Champions League bow with a win, Bissouma revealed on his Instagram stories what he actually did after the game. Rather than just leave the shirt behind at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he took it home as a memento and actually went to bed in it.

"I slept all night with this shirt yesterday @championsleague. It's magic," he wrote on his picture. It clearly did mean that much to the player to take to the pitch in Europe's premier competition.

Speaking to the club's official YouTube channel following his move from Brighton in June, Bissouma outlined his ambition of playing in the Champions League.

“From Issia to London, Spurs, Champions League music - imagine. The emotion is too much but I just say thank you to God. It’s my dream to play Champions League, when I was young I was watching it every day. I can’t believe I’m going to play in it with Spurs, I’m so happy."

Bissouma will be hoping more minutes come his way on Tuesday when the Lilywhites travel to Sporting CP in their next Champions League group game.
