What will happen in Liverpool dressing room at Wembley before Carabao Cup final vs Chelsea

Jordan Henderson has given a glimpse of what will happen in the Liverpool dressing room before their Carabao Cup final with Chelsea on Sunday.

The Reds face the Londoners at Wembley aiming to complete the first leg of a possible quadruple by securing a record-breaking ninth victory in the competition.

Henderson is the sole survivor from Liverpool's last success in 2012 and has been involved in a further seven major finals with the club.

The 31-year-old skippered Jurgen Klopp's side to victories in the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2019.

And when asked whether he is a captain who prefers to make a big speech before a key game, Henderson said: "Not really.

"To be honest, some of the lads like to say a few things in the dressing room before the game but that's the same before every game.

"It's not really a speech, it's just while getting ready to go out a few of the lads, just to get the mentality right for the game and the things we have spoken about during the week and what we want to do during the game, will speak about that before we go out and do that as a group and within the leaders of the team.

"That's the case all the time. Who is the most vocal? Millie!"

Henderson added: "It's nothing different to what I normally do. Yes, it's a cup final and you get everything around it, but you have to treat it as you would every other game.

"Of course, I can help with the experience I've had in my career so far and finals I've been involved in."

Chelsea are the reigning European and World champions and have lost only four games this season in all competitions, although while only one place below Liverpool in the Premier League table they are 10 points adrift of their fellow Carabao Cup finalists, albeit with a game in hand.

The Reds are now only three points behind leaders Manchester City and retain an interest in the Champions League and FA Cup, with Henderson believing a win at Wembley would be the perfect springboard for the remainder of the campaign.

"It's a big moment in the season," said the England international. "To get a trophy so early on can give the squad a big boost. We want to use it as a platform to give us a confidence boost going into the business end of the season.

"But it's never easy against Chelsea, they are a world-class team. It will be a big test, but at the same time we have fantastic players here and if we can perform to the level we are capable of, we can give them a good game.

"Yes, we are still in all four competitions but that can change very quickly. Sunday, whether we win or not, that's done. The other ones you can be out of very quickly if you don't perform well.

"We are in a good moment and we need to continue on that path until the end of the season."
