Down their best defensive player for half of the 2022 season, the topic du jour was the Pittsburgh Steelers record without outside linebacker T.J. Watt.
It took the Steelers until Week 6 to win a game without the former Defensive Player of the Year, which brought their total record without him to 1-8.
Buy Steelers TicketsSunday’s victory against the Bucs was also the first time the Steelers won a game without T.J. Watt.
The fact they also did without Minkah and their top 3 CBs adds to how impressive it was. The streak is finally over.

Now the question unfortunately becomes, how many games will Pittsburgh win without Heyward’s services? Until the dust settles on Wednesday’s groin surgery, it’s difficult to put a timetable on his return, so Mike Tomlin won’t speculate.
“I’ll give you an update on the other side of the surgery,” Tomlin said in his weekly press conference on Tuesday. “When we get a complete totality of time and what it is and and and so forth and things of that nature.”
The only game Heyward has missed in the past two years was in the 2020 season in preparation for the playoffs. He missed two games with a hamstring in 2016 and was later put on injured reserve with a torn pectoral. The Steelers somehow managed to win those seven games of the regular season until losing to the New England Patriots in the conference championship game.
