Netflix’s popular coming-of-age comedy drama Ginny & Georgia is returning for a second season. With more than 50m households watching the first series in the first month after its release in February last year, it's no surprise that the streaming giant decided to green light a follow-up.
Season 1 focussed on the nuanced and complicated mother-daughter relationship between 30-year-old Georgia - played by Brianne Howey - and 15-year-old Ginny - played by Antonia Gentry. Ginny is an awkward and angsty teenager who often feels like she doesn't measure up to her irresistible and dynamic mum Georgia.
After growing up on the move, Georgia decides she wants to put down roots in the fictional town of Wellsbury, New England, and give a settled home to Ginny and her nine-year-old son Austin (Diesel La Torraca). But her past threatens the family’s fresh start.

Will there be a season 2 of Ginny & Georgia?
The first series made the Top 10 list in 87 countries around the world and hit number one in 46, including Australia, Brazil, Kenya and the U.S. In April last year, Netflix announced that the series would be returning for a second season.
Executive producer Debra J. Fisher and creator Sarah Lampert said: “We are so appreciative of the incredible response and love you all have shown Ginny & Georgia.
"We're especially grateful to Brianne and Toni, who set the highest bar every step of the way. We can’t wait to return to Wellsbury for Season 2.”
What to expect from Ginny & Georgia Season 2
*Warning: Contains season 1 spoilers*
The first series ended with several cliffhangers and there are some questions we can expect to be answered. For example, did Ginny and Austin run away?
What will happen with Georgia's relationship with the mayor, Paul Randolph (Scott Porter). And is Georgia going to prison for murder?!
The season finale also set up the return of Austin’s dad, who is reportedly to be played by Aaron Ashmore (Locke and Key). So there are plenty of story threads that will be picked up when the show returns.
Is there a Ginny & Georgia season 2 release date?
Netflix confirmed that the new season will feature 10 all-new 60 minute episodes. Filming started around November last year so the new series is expected to land on the streaming giant at some point later in 2022 - although there is no date as yet.
