What we know about the new Samsung Galaxy foldable phones so far

With rumours circulating all over about what the new Galaxy Fold 3 and Flip 3 will have in store, it seems Samsung's executives saw fit to confirm some of them.

Samsung first introduced its series of fold phones in September 2019 with the Galaxy fold, it was the first successful phone to combine a smartphone that could fold into a larger tablet-like display.

Soon after, the Galaxy Z flip was introduced in February 2020 which was a callback to the flip phones of old but with a new modern design.

We are now two weeks away from Samsung's Unpacked event where Samsung's flagship phone lineup for the second half of 2021 will be introduced.

Samsung President and Head of Mobile Communications Business TM Roh shared some details on a blog regarding the design and features of the foldable devices coming this year.

He said: "Today, the world needs flexible technologies that give people room to explore. At Samsung, people are at the heart of everything we do.

"We’re constantly listening to you to ensure that any new device and experience we create really bring meaningful innovations."

Some of the leaks, such as those from Evan (evleaks), suggests that the Galaxy foldable will have an improved design with enhanced durability.

Mr Roh added: " We kept improving the category with our second generation of foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold2 and the Galaxy Z Flip, with more screens and more of the features you now know and love.

"I’m excited to say our third generation of foldable devices will open up amazing new multitasking capabilities and enhanced durability for even more people around the world."

Alongside the foldable, Mr Roh also told consumers that there will be a new model of Galaxy Note coming out this year.
