What was Manuel Pellegrini's salary at West Ham and what is his payoff?

West Ham are on the lookout for their sixth new manager in the space of nine years.

Manuel Pellegrini's disastrous spell as boss has come to an end.

With the Hammers languishing just one point and one place above the Premier League relegation zone, the West Ham board of directors have acted and sacked the Chilean former Premier League winner.

The sacking may have come out of the blue on a dark night at London Stadium on Saturday, but it was a decision that was also a long time in coming.

The Hammers have had a poor first half of the season and Pellegrini has never looked like turning things around.

Pellegrini has been axed just 18 months into a three-year contract in east London, so what does that mean for West Ham's finances?

Pellegrini's salary at the London Stadium amounted to £8million a year, which means he is in for a substantial payoff following his sacking at the helm.

That means that if the club pay out the entirety of his remaining contract - which is around 15 months - the Chilean is in line to receive a payoff in the region of £11.33million following his sacking.

That is not a small amount of money to the Hammers bosses, but it is also not uncommon given the payoffs that have been made in recent years to the likes of David Moyes and Slaven Bilic too.
