What Valencia fans did for Bryan Gil as manager issues fresh transfer update on Tottenham loanee

Twenty four hours on from Tottenham crashing out of the FA Cup at Middlesbrough, Bryan Gil now has a Copa del Rey final to look forward to with Valencia.

Heading into the second leg of their semi-final clash against Athletic Bilbao level at 1-1, Los Che sealed their place in the showpiece finale in Seville with a 1-0 win at the Mestalla.

Goncalo Guedes scored the only goal of the contest and it sparked wild scenes at Valencia's home come the full-time whistle.

Really catching the eye since his loan switch from Tottenham on transfer deadline day, Gil again played his part in his team's success by playing 71 minutes of the match before Yunas Musah replaced him for the closing stages.

Adored in Valencia already despite only playing seven games for the Spanish side, fans have made their feelings known to the player and quite clearly want him to stay for the long-term future.

Keen to carry on their celebrations after the game, Valencia players made their way out onto the balcony at the Mestalla and celebrated with the thousands of supporters who had gathered outside the stadium to toast their place in the final.

Chants of "Bryan, stay" could be heard loud and clear in the streets as they once again made their feelings clear to the 21-year-old.

Also demanding for fellow loanee Hugo Duro to remain with Lo Che, Valencia boss José Bordalás was asked about the duo in his post-match press conference and what exactly the future holds for them.

Stating that Valencia do not have an option to buy Gil come the end of the season, the manager confirmed that the La Liga side "will see what happens".

"We know that Hugo Duro is on loan and Valencia CF have an option to buy him. With Bryan Gil, that isn't the case," said the Spaniard, as reported by Valencia's official website.

"They are two players who are showing commitment, enthusiasm and identification with the cause. They are all committed and we will see what happens.

"We are going to focus on La Liga, with this important boost, and when the final comes around, the team will give everything to bring joy to these fans."

Speaking to Spanish radio station COPE after the win, Gil said: "Everyone dreams of being where we are. Now it's time to celebrate. The people have been incredible and hopefully we can take the trophy home."

He added: "I didn't expect this madness. I've been blown away by the people of Valencia."

Valencia will now play the winner of Real Betis or Rayo Vallecano in the final of the Copa del Rey at Estadio La Cartuja in Seville on Saturday, April 23.

Betis lead 2-1 from the first leg after victory away at Vallecano.
