What Usain Bolt said to Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag during brief meeting

Former Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt has opened up on his brief meeting with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag after the Reds' FA Cup win over Fulham.

Bolt - a United fan - was a guest of the club for the cup clash with the London outfit, with Ten Hag's men securing a 3-1 victory over the Cottagers last weekend. The win over Marco Silva's men sealed another Wembley trip for the Reds, who won the Carabao Cup last month.

After the game against Fulham, Bolt met with United boss Ten Hag. The 36-year-old has since revealed what he discussed with the Dutchman.

"The first thing I said to him was thank you," Bolt told club media. "That's the first thing I said. I was like, 'thank you' and I shook his hand. And he was like, 'thank you for what?' I was like, 'bringing the glory days back'.

"For the past couple of years it's been a tough ask for the players and tough ask for the team and there's been ups and downs, you know. So the fact that now we can see us stabling out and going forward and going up, it's brilliant.

"All I was trying to say was just thank you, I appreciate [it] and just to continue what [you’re] doing."

The legendary athlete suggested that Ten Hag has brought the good times back to Old Trafford, praising the former Ajax chief for instilling a sense of belief and togetherness in the United squad.

He added: "Our season is going wonderful. I think it's just so great Ten Hag has come in and [what he has] done for the club. The club has really changed.

"You can see the energy in the players and the mindset is so different, so, for me, I'm very happy with the direction the club is going. I know we are going to win titles."

Ten Hag will be keen to add the FA Cup and Europa League crown to his trophy cabinet having already won the Carabao Cup this term. United face Sevilla in the quarter-finals of the Europa League and Brighton in the FA Cup semi-finals.
