A win for United will see them move level on points with Tottenham, in fourth, and three points clear of Arsenal, in sixth, as both North London clubs slipped up over the Easter weekend. Here’s everything you need to know about this crucial clash at the top end of the table.

What’s the latest team news?

Fresh from beating title rivals Manchester City 3-2 in Saturday’s action-packed FA Cup semi-final, Klopp will likely make several changes to his starting side.

Diogo Jota and Jordan Henderson, who were both on the bench at Wembley on Saturday, are vying for their place back in the line-up. Joel Matip could also return alongside Virgil van Dijk, although Ibrahima Konate has impressed in recent games. Liverpool have no notable injuries or suspensions at the moment.

Meanwhile, Ralf Rangnick does not have that same luxury. Edinson Cavani, Scott McTominay, Fred and Luke Shaw are all out for this clash. Tonight’s fixture may come slightly too soon for Raphael Varane, who is hoping to return to action at some point this week.

Bruno Fernandes should be fit and available for selection, as he emerged unscathed from a car crash on Sunday morning. Cristiano Ronaldo will not feature, following the death of his baby son which he and his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, announced on Monday evening.

What have the managers said?

Jurgen Klopp: “If we let United do [what they want] they will cause us massive problems, so we have to be in the right mood, the people have to be in the right mood, like really, really ready to fight for three points - and not want to show we are in a better moment than United. Who is interested in that?

“They want to have the three points that we need, so that’s the attitude we need to show. We have to be angry in a good way and all these kind of things; greedy, really like you are if you have won nothing, like you would be with nil points and it is the most important three points in your life.

“That’s actually the attitude we need for this game because the quality is too high and they are too good for not being in that mood.”

Ralf Rangnick: “For sure, we need to be more compact and more aggressive, more on the front foot but still make sure we have all of the players behind the ball and this is what we need to show tomorrow, against a team who is probably one of the best, if not the best, in producing chances and creating moments in which they can be dangerous in and around the box.

“We need to be at our very, very best defensively but still have a formation and a line-up and an approach to the game where we can be dangerous ourselves.

“We are fully aware that out of those six games, we need probably almost maximum points but definitely as many as possible. You can see other teams are dropping points over the weekend and the last couple of weeks. So again this is about just being consistent and at the end the team who will probably finish fourth will be the team who is most committed to that."
