What Travis Kelce Told Kadarius Toney After Devastating Offsides Penalty

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce addressed the incredible lateral play that wasn’t in Sunday’s loss to the Bills.

Kelce, who caught a deep pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes, threw a bullet lateral to a wide open Kadarius Toney for a long go ahead touchdown against the Bills late in the fourth quarter, but the play was called back because Toney was lined up offsides.

The controversial play sparked strong criticism of the game’s officiating from Mahomes and coach Andy Reid after the game, while Toney himself was the center of plenty of barbs for not lining up properly.

Kelce addressed the play on this week’s episode of his New Heights podcast.

“I went up to KT today, man. And I told him, ‘Man we had that place f—--- rocking. Man, that crowd. Arrowhead was on fire after that play, man,” Kelce said.

“You can’t put it in the ref’s hands in that position. …I love KT. If we get the opportunity again, I’m gonna throw that s— right to his chest again. Hopefully he gets there. I got all the faith in the world in that dude. He’s one of our best players, man. He’s one of the best players we’ve got with the ball in his hands. You turn on the film and you watch what he does when the ball is in his hands, and you can’t tell me you don’t that guy on your team, man. So everybody hating on KT right now, man, I’m not trying to hear that. You can f------ miss me with it.”

Kelce, Toney and the rest of the Chiefs are back in action this Sunday on the road against the 3-10 Patriots. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
