Incoming Micky van de Ven is closing in on a £30million transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in no small part to the power of Ange Postecoglou.
Wolfsburg are on the verge of agreeing a deal with Spurs as the former Celtic star is set to land his top central defensive target to help solidify a defence which capitulated last season. And De Telegraaf revealed the towering Dutchman was won over during a meeting with Postecoglou as his next boss mapped out his vision for his mammoth revamp in North London. The pitch left the defender with an "excellent feeling". And the stage is set for van de Ven to pen a long-term deal with Spurs as the 22-year-old aims to build on his exploits in the Bundesliga.
It's becoming a familiar story in N17 as multiple signings have moved to big up Postecoglou's ability to sell Tottenham to impending arrivals. Record Sport looks at thee kind words which have come the 57-year-old's way from within the new-look dressing room.
James Maddison
"I spoke to the manager, spoke to Daniel and they both spoke very highly of everything about the club and of me. Speaking to the manager was very important, how he's going to be, with that little bit of the unknown, so to have a decent chat with him and to get his thoughts on things, how he sees Spurs going this season.
"He said one thing to me on the call, I hope he won't mind me saying this, but he said, 'whether you come or not, you're going to see a completely different Spurs team under me', and that kind of stuck with me that he said that. I thought 'wow there's that same self belief that I've got in myself."
Guglielmo Vicario
His father Michele, speaking in Italy, said: “A week ago, he had a video call with his new coach, Ange Postecoglou. They spoke in English and the coach told him that he had chosen him because Guglielmo worked his way up just like him.
“The coach was then impressed to see that the boy already knows English. In January, two other English clubs had come forward, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest. But Empoli wanted to postpone everything until the summer."
Dejan Kulusevski
“My understanding is that he was very interested in me. I'm glad we're getting a new coach with new ideas. What I've read and heard about him is good."
