What Tom Brady said to Tottenham star Harry Kane after NFL legend announces retirement

NFL legend Tom Brady has heaped praise on Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Brady has enjoyed an extremely successful career over the last two decades, winning the Super Bowl seven times and being named Super Bowl MVP five times in the process.

However, the American icon officially decided to call it a day on Tuesday, announcing his retirement more than a week after the Los Angeles Rams, owned by Arsenal chief Stan Kroenke knocked out the Buccaneers in the Divisional Round, ending his 22 year career in the NFL.

Spurs frontman Kane took to social media shortly after Brady's announcement to hail the American's impact on sport, admitting that the former New England Patriots star helped get him into American football.

Posting on his Instagram story, the England captain said: "Congratulations on an incredible career Tom Brady. Your drive, passion and commitment is inspiring. You’re the main reason I started following the sport and love the NFL. Thank you!"

Now, Brady has replied to the Lilywhites star, thanking the 27-year-old for his kind words.

He wrote: "Thanks Harry Kane one of the many amazing young stars in this world."

Kane has previously shared his desire to one day play in the NFL after he retires from football.

Speaking in 2020, he said: "The main one is maybe looking at the option of playing in the NFL one day. That would be a bucket list, a dream come true.

"There's still a long way to go between now and that moment. But it's something that I’ve got one eye on. And who knows, towards the end of my career, I might take it a little bit more seriously. See how I'd go about that. You never know.

"When I was about 18, 19, I stumbled across a Tom Brady documentary on YouTube. I fell in love with him and his mentality, and the game as well. I chose the Patriots from that moment and just loved it ever since."
