What to know from Packers’ first injury report of Week 9 vs. Lions

The Green Bay Packers released the team’s first injury report of Week 9 on Wednesday. The team will release two more injury reports, including a final injury report on Friday with official playing status designations before Sunday’s showdown with the Detroit Lions.

Here’s everything to know from the Packers’ first injury report of Week 9:

— Seven players didn’t participate on Wednesday: quarterback Jordan Love (groin), cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee), running back Josh Jacobs (ankle), center Josh Myers (wrist), left guard Elgton Jenkins (glute), left tackle Rasheed Walker (knee) and safety Evan Williams (hamstring). All seven are starters. Love, Alexander, Jacobs, Walker and Williams are dealing with new injuries coming out of Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

— Coach Matt LaFleur said Love is considered day to day and will get the full week to get ready to play. He’ll likely be a game-time decision. Jacobs is expecting to play despite missing Wednesday’s practice.

— Jenkins played through a glute injury after missing Wednesday’s practice last week. Expect him to be available Sunday. Walker previously had a knee injury this season but hasn’t missed time.

— LaFleur said Williams felt something in his hamstring pre-game last Sunday but attempted to play through it. He exited the game and didn’t return.

— Linebacker Quay Walker passed through concussion protocol. He was a full participant on Wednesday.

— Cornerback Corey Ballentine (ankle) returned to practice after missing last week’s win in Jacksonville. He was limited.

— Defensive lineman Kenny Clark (toe/shoulder) and Devonte Wyatt (ankle) both practiced in a limited capacity. Clark continues to play through the toe injury, but his shoulder injury is a new one this week. The veteran needs the bye week to finally get healed up. Wyatt returned to game action last week after missing three games.

— The Packers removed cornerback Keisean Nixon (hamstring), wide receivers Jayden Reed (ankle) and Christian Watson (ankle) and defensive lineman Colby Wooden (knee) from the injury report to start Week 9. All both are recovered from past injuries.

— The Lions were without 10 players at Wednesday’s practice, but five were not injured related and listed as “rest.” However, quarterback Jared Goff (ankle), left tackle Taylor Decker (chest) and linebacker Malcolm Rodriquez (ankle) did not practice with injuries. Defensive lineman Josh Paschal is still dealing with an illness and did not practice. The Packers are banged up, but there’s plenty to monitor from Detroit’s side throughout this week too.
