What to do if you haven't received the £150 disbility cost of living payment yet

More than six million people will have started to receive the £150 disability cost of living payment from yesterday.

The £150 disability cost of living payment is being awarded automatically to those claiming certain disbility benefits to help with rising costs.

The one off cash sum began to be paid to those claiming certain disability benefits from June 20 - however, not everyone will receive their cash on this date.

This is because the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will be spreading the payments out over the course of a two week window.

The disability cost of payment will be paid to those eligible right up until Tuesday, July 4.

This means if you haven't yet received the cash then you shouldn't worry.

You should also note that a small proportion of payments will also be made after this date.

This will be to those who were still awaiting confirmation of their eligibility or entitlement to disability benefits on April 1.

What do I do if I haven't received the cost of living payment?

Over the next two weeks, you should keep an eye on your bank account for the £150 cash.

The payment reference on your bank statements will appear with the code "DWP COL" along with your National Insurance number.

The money is paid separately from your normal benefits so make sure you check before reporting it missing.

If you haven't received your cost of living payment by July 5, and you were not waiting for confirmation on your entitlement, then this is when you should contact the DWP.

The Government said: “You will be able to report a missing disability cost of living payment from 5 July, 2023.

"Do not contact us before then as we will not be able to take any action.”

If the deadline passes with no payment, you can fill out a form on the Government website to raise the issue.

You can report your missing cost of living payment here.

The DWP has previously said you should not report your missing payment more than once.

Who gets the disability cost of living payment?

In order to be eligible for the disbility cost of living payment, you must have been claiming a qualifying benefit on April 1 2023.

The qualifying benefits are:

  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payment
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Scottish Disability Benefits (Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement

If you were getting a qualifying benefit from the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and a qualifying benefit from DWP, you will get a disability payment from the DWP only.

If you get it mistakenly, you will have to pay it back.
