What to do if you haven't received the £150 cost of living payment

Around six million people on disability payments have received £150 to help with rising costs of living. The UK Government has confirmed it has made the payments to eligible claimants after an initial delay in sending out the money last month.

The payments were originally due to be sent out on September 20 but the Department for Work and Pensions admitted there was a delay after thousands of people complained that they had not received the money. It has said the vast majority of eligible claimants who were due to receive the one-off payment have now had it processed.

People on disability benefits such as disability living allowance, personal independence payment, attendance allowance, armed forces independence payment, constant attendance allowance, or the war pension mobility supplement were eligible for the payment, which was being given automatically. You can now report a missing payment if you feel you are eligible but haven't received one for any reason.

Why haven't I received the £150 disability payment?

After reports that many had not had their payments the DWP admitted that "operational issues" had led to delays in getting the money out and that most eligible recipients would receive their money at the start of October. Although most will now have the money there might be a number of reasons why you haven't received it yet. The DWP said: "There will be some cases – such as those who gained entitlement to this payment at a later date or where payments were rejected due to invalid account details – who will not be paid by the beginning of October. These will be paid automatically as soon as possible." If you fall into this category you will likely receive the money in the coming weeks.

Can I report a missing payment?

Yes. There is now a way to report a missing payment. If you haven't received it yet you can report it missing here. You will need your National Insurance number to use the service. The £150 is a one-off payment so you should only use this link if you have not received it even if you have more than one disability benefit. You will not receive multiple payments.
