Zhang Weili and Tatiana Suarez are set to throw down in the octagon. This strawweight championship bout scheduled for five rounds is taking place Saturday, Feb. 8 (Sunday locally) at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.
Weili (25-3 MMA, 9-2 UFC) is going for the third consecutive defense of her second title reign. In her previous two fights, she’s defeated Amanda Lemos and Yan Xiaonan by unanimous decisions.
Suarez (10-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) has been considered a future champion since early in her career, which has been marred by injuries, and she finally gets her chance to prove it. Suarez most recently submitted Jessica Andrade by second-round guillotine choke in August 2023.
