Everton and Liverpool will not wish to remember their respective 2022/23 seasons after both falling short of standards in the division standings.
Sean Dyche's side narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of last term, having experienced a similar situation the previous year under Frank Lampard.
Liverpool, meanwhile, were expected to be challenging Manchester City for the league title but failed to make the top four after a campaign which saw the team struggle to develop any form of consistency until the final few weeks of their schedule.
A new season represents the opportunity for both clubs to bounce back such disappointments, though they will first have to ensure their transfer business paves the way for success on the pitch.

Making the step up to the top flight for 2023/24 will be Burnley, Luton Town and Sheffield United, with Southampton, Leeds United and Leicester City heading in the opposite direction. Luton away is one fixture many supporters are eagerly awaiting due to the unique nature of their Kenilworth Road home.
Liverpool do not want their opening match of the campaign to take place at Anfield due to ongoing work on the Anfield Road stand, resulting in an official request being made to the Premier League for this wish to be granted. With the Reds set to be on their travels on first weekend, it is therefore expected Everton will be hosting a fellow top tier side at Goodison Park.
Fixtures for all clubs will be confirmed by the Premier League tomorrow at 9am, which follows the same release date pattern of recent years. August 12 has been selected as the official start date for the 2023/24 season to commence.
