Liverpool have a string on injuries to deal with. The most serious of which is Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. The Englishman suffered a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace in pre-season and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future.

The Reds are in a bit of bother in the goalkeeping department as well. Ireland's Caoimhín has been ruled out through injury while Alisson is also unavailable for today's game. Adrian is expected to start as a result.

Aymeric Laporte will miss the first month of the new season for City with a knee injury.

“We’ll do everything in our power to do that and hopefully it puts us in good stead going into the Premier League season the week after.”

Pep Guardiola on Erling Haaland

“He is ready to play tomorrow, and my first impression is he is a guy who is really good”

“He is a funny guy, and he has settled in really well.
