What time and TV channel is Derry City v Shelbourne on tonight?

Derry City and Shelbourne in an FAI Cup final dress rehearsal this evening as the Candystripes hope St Pat's can do them a favour in Tallaght.

Ruaidhri Higgins' side defeated Treaty United 2-1 to book their place in next month's decider before Shels overcame Waterford 1-0 later in the same afternoon last weekend.

Derry trail Shamrock Rovers by six points at the top of the League of Ireland table, but do have a game in hand, which comes against Sligo Rovers on Monday night.

Ciaron Harkin is Derry’s only long-term absentee having last month suffered a second cruciate injury of the season, but otherwise Higgins expects to have most of his big hitters available for this match.

Shels won’t be at full strength as striker Sean Boyd is suspended and Matty Smith cannot play as he is on loan from the Candystripes. Reds coach Alan Quinn has been hit with a two-game ban for his dismissal against St Pat’s a fortnight ago.

Here's what you need to know:

The match takes place at the Ryan McBride Brandywell on Friday, October 21.

What time is kick-off?

The action gets under way at 7.45pm.

What TV channel is it on?

Quotes corner

Derry City's Cameron McJannet: “After Sunday it was straight back to work because we’ve got four league games left. It was straight back down to business. We’ve got to try and win these last four games and see what we can do.

“Of course it can be difficult to switch your focus but as soon as we won we thought, ‘The cup final is in a few weeks so we can put that to the backs of our minds now’.

“We have to focus on the fact that we’ve got four cup finals for ourselves before the actual cup final. I’ve seen it written a couple of times now, that this is a dress rehearsal but in our minds we have to win this one.

“When we play them in a few weeks’ time, it will be completely different again. It might be the same teams but I don’t think it will be anything like a dress rehearsal.”

Betting odds

Derry City win: 4/9

Shelbourne win: 6/1
