What Thomas Tuchel said to Roman Abramovich after historic Chelsea Club World Cup win revealed

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has sent his congratulations to Blues owner Roman Abramovich after the club won their first FIFA Club World Cup title by defeating Brazilian side Palmeiras 2-1 after extra time.

The Blues completed the full sweep of trophies under the Abramovich era as Tuchel gifted his own boss exactly what he was looking for.

Romelu Lukaku had put the Blues 1-0 up in the 55th minute with his powerful header from a Callum Hudson-Odoi cross but they were pegged back minutes later through a controversial penalty conceded by Thiago Silva.

Into extra time and after pushing on, Chelsea finally broke down Palmeiras and one man in particular repeated a trick that was seen in Porto at the end of the last term.

Kai Havertz scored yet again in another final for the west Londoners, but this time from the penalty spot after Cesar Azpilicueta's snapshot struck the hand of a Palmeiras player before the referee overturned his decision via VAR in the 117th minute.

In the aftermath of celebrations, which included Abramovich high-fiving the German manager, the Blues boss sent the Russian billionaire a congratulatory message when he spoke to the media post-match.

“It’s for him. There is no doubt it’s for him," Tuchel stated in his post-match press conference.

"We met shortly on the pitch after the final and I said congratulations and he said congratulations.

"I said, ‘it’s for you, it’s your club and it’s your input passion that made this possible’. We are happy to be part of it. Of course, the trophy is for him."

Will these congratulatory exchanges between the two result in a big summer transfer window in the making after the disappointment that came about with no fresh faces coming through the door in January?
