What Thomas Tuchel did to Marcos Alonso for Chelsea's Premier League clash with Watford

Marcos Alonso is a noticeable omission from Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea side to face Watford today in their last Premier League outing of the season. It's a game that won't mean much for the Blues, with their Premier League spot already confirmed for next season.

But the Spaniard has been an ever present at left-back since Ben Chilwell ruptured his ACL earlier this season, and has performed admirably throughout the campaign. But today, he has not even been named amongst the substitutes. Chilwell has, surprisingly, been named on the bench today, though.

Alonso is expected to leave the club this summer, with plenty of speculation about his future with Barcelona reportedly in advanced talks to sign him from Chelsea. There are three other players who will definitely be leaving the Bridge this summer, with two of them also expected to join Barca in Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta.

It'll also be the last day at Stamford Bridge for Antonio Rudiger, who is expected to join Real Madrid whilst there's also the chance of Timo Werner making an exit with strong links to Borussia Dortmund - who has also been left of out of the squad today.

Brazilian Kenedy will make his first Chelsea appearance in the Premier League in five years as he takes Alonso's place at left-wing back as Tuchel has made five changes to the team that drew against Leicester City, with Cesar Azpilicueta, Mason Mount and Kai Havertz returning to the side.

Chelsea: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger; James, Kante, Saul, Kenedy; Ziyech, Havertz, Mount

Chelsea substitutes: Kepa, Chilwell, Chalobah, Sarr, Jorginho, Barkley, Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, Lukaku
