What Thomas Frank said about Martin Odegaard and Kevin De Bruyne ahead of Brentford vs Arsenal

Martin Odegaard's start to the season was recognised by the Premier League. The Arsenal captain was nominated for August's player of the month award, which was won by his fellow Norwegian and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.

The Gunners midfielder has scored three goals in six games this season and has caught the eye with his creative displays, playing behind Gabriel Jesus. After his impressive start to the campaign, Odegaard has received high praise from a Premier League manager.

Arsenal travel to Brentford on Sunday, knowing a win will keep them top of the division heading into the first international break of the season, and Bees boss Thomas Frank has heaped praise on Odegaard, saying that his current performance level is close to Kevin De Bruyne's.

The Man City midfielder, who was named as last season's Premier League player of the season, already has five goal contributions in six games so far this term. The Belgian has at least 18 goal contributions in his last three Premier League seasons.

"Kevin is one of the best players I have ever seen in my life," said Pep Guardiola. "He can make absolutely everything. Everything. He's a top, top quality player."

Now, Odegaard is being compared to a player who Guardiola insists is one of the best footballers he has ever seen, never mind coached. As well as hailing Odegaard, Frank also believes William Saliba and Jesus have been key to Arsenal's impressive start.

"I know Saliba came back, Jesus has been a fantastic signing," Frank said. "And I think Odegaard, the way he plays at this moment in time, De Bruyne is a decent player, but he’s not far off him in terms of performances."
