Thiago Silva appears open to the possibility of Mauricio Pochettino taking the helm at Chelsea following his glowing review of the Argentine a couple of years ago. The former Tottenham boss has been heavily linked with replacing Frank Lampard in the summer, but he faces tough competition for the role.
football.london understands that Julian Nagelsmann has emerged as the front-runner for the vacant Chelsea head coach position having already held positive talks with the 35-year-old. With Todd Boehly narrowing down the search, it's said that conversations with the German will continue in the coming weeks.
The Blues have a shortlist of managers they would like to speak to and, with Pochettino expected to be on their radar, Silva's comments could prove significant before a final decision is made. When the Argentine was named Paris Saint-Germain boss in January 2021 following he departure of Thomas Tuchel, the veteran defender backed the appointment and admitted that 'situations had to be changed'.

"Mauricio Pochettino did a good job with Tottenham," Silva told French Broadcaster RMC Sport. "I think he comes very motivated, 20 years after playing for PSG.
"He knows the club a bit. Of course that has changed a lot, but he knows football a lot, he will work with very high level players. I am still a supporter of PSG."
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have held initial talks with Pochettino over the manager role. The report states that the Blues are long-term admirers of the 51-year-old and first enquired about his services in September following Thomas Tuchel's exit.
Sky Sports add that Pochettino will consider his options at the end of the season. While it's said that he's snubbed Real Madrid twice before, there have been question marks as to whether he's the right man for the job.
"I don’t think it’s a marriage made in heaven," Simon Jordan told talkSPORT. "That being said, I’ve never believed that Pochettino has the winning gene. I think he’s a really good manager, I think he’ll get you to a certain level.
"There’s something about Pochettino that just tells me he doesn’t have this ruthless streak that someone like [Thomas] Tuchel had and someone like obviously the great Alex Ferguson had and [Jose] Mourinho has. This inability to see anything other than just winning at all costs."
