What Thiago Silva did in Chelsea training that left Ruben Loftus-Cheek with a massive smile

Chelsea made it five wins in succession at the weekend after defeating Newcastle United by one goal to nil.

The game appeared to be heading for a draw before Kai Havertz's sublime first touch and finish in the 89th minute following Jorginho's exquisite forward lofted pass, which ensured that all three points remained in west London.

The victory means that Thomas Tuchel's men have now managed to pick up five wins on the bounce and are in a very strong position to secure Champions League football next season.

Up next for the Blues is their second leg fixture against LOSC Lille at the Stade Pierre Mauroy on Wednesday in the UEFA Champions League round of 16-second leg.

The Champions of Europe go into the game with a healthy 2-0 lead courtesy of Havertz and Christian Pulisic's goals and will be confident in their ability to avoid a potential upset.

Ahead of the tie, Chelsea players appeared to be in good spirits in the latest training session and what stood out in a video shared by the club's Twitter account was Thiago Silva's no-look megs on teammate Ruben Loftus-Cheek, with the former Fulham loanee quickly giving the Brazilian a hug after his smooth piece of skill.

Silva has delivered countless top-class performances for Chelsea since he arrived at the club back in the summer 2020 transfer window, providing the team with natural ball progression from deeper areas along with offering defensive reliability at the heart of the backline.

The former PSG defender was an unused substitute in Sunday's Premier League victory but will certainly hope to play a part in Wednesday's European clash.
