What the Rangers pundits said as brutal Neil McCann 'hopes Alfredo Morelos is watching at home sick'

Rangers earned their night of glory in Eindhoven as they booked a place in the Champions League group stage.

Antonio Colak's second-half strike downed PSV and reserved a place at the continent's top table for the first time in over a decade. The Ibrox side are now in the hat for Thursday's draw where they can draw some of Europe's very biggest hitters. There were jubilant scenes on the pitch at the Phillips Stadium as the Rangers players celebrated with an elated travelling support.

It's an outcome they will have scarcely dared to believe when 2-0 down to Union Saint-Gilloise in the last round but this side have proven time and again they can't be written off on the big stage. They will now be afforded the prestigious opportunity to test themselves on the grandest stage of them in club football and with a potential £30m jackpot to boost the club coffers.

Colak's strike and performance was vindication for manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who took the huge decision to leave Alfredo Morelos out of his squad amid concerns over his attitude and fitness. As always, reaction from the punditry circuit rolled in thick and fast after full-time. Here's a selection of what they had to say.

Kenny Miller

"Tillman, we talked about him at half-time. In the early stages when Rangers created, he was fantastic. He was the catalyst. He was brilliant throughout the situation. He played at a brilliant tempo and had the unselfishness to cut the ball back for Colak for the tap-in. It was a very strong away performance in Europe.

"This has been building for four years now. There have been some really strong performances in the Europa League and it felt like the right time now for this team to take the step. I'm delighted for the players and Giovanni as well.

"He made a decision over the last two days which could have easily backfired. It was a really mature performance away from home and these players deserve to be back amongst Europe's elite.

"Gio in Europe has really come to the fore. He's taken a team all the way to a European final and now he's taken this last step. It's not the journey complete but it was something that was discussed even when I was there a few years ago now, to get this club back to the Champions League. It's taken a bit of time but it's thoroughly deserved."

Alan Hutton

"It was a great performance. This was the type of performance Rangers needed tonight. and hopefully that puts to bed the [Europa League] final. While the process has been moving forward, the goal was always to get back to the Champions League and it's been a long time coming. It truly is a wonderful performance tonight, a great result and Rangers are back where they belong; at the big table."

Neil McCann

"I'm so happy for them. I'm so happy for Gio because a lot of what we talked about tonight was about Morelos and the decision to leave him at home. And do you know what? He's IRRELEVANT tonight.

"Alfredo Morelos is now irrelevant tonight. And I hope he is watching at home and he's sick that he's not joining his team-mates through his attitude. Giovanni made a big call. It could have been one of those ones, that because of his European goalscoring record (he could've taken him).

"But I'm delighted it didn't matter and it's that number nine Colak who's been superb. He put them out of the Champions League last night with Malmo but he's made up for it now with the Rangers fans, I bet you."
