'What the hell is happening?' - Man City fans react after Kevin De Bruyne and Mikel Arteta clash

Tensions threatened to boil over briefly during Manchester City's trip to Arsenal when Kevin De Bruyne and Mikel Arteta clashed.

The Premier League's top two met at the Emirates in a potentially season-defining clash on Wednesday evening - the first league meeting between the pair - with City able to go top of the table on goal difference with three points. An enthralling affair in North London saw De Bruyne pounce on a Takehiro Tomiyasu mistake to open the scoring before Bukayo Saka's penalty saw honours even at the break.

City came out fighting in the second half, almost literally when Belgian midfielder De Bruyne clashed with Arteta. The incident occurred just past the 50-minute mark, with the Blues pressing and keen to take a throw-in quickly. The Arsenal boss waited for De Bruyne to get close before poking the ball away from his grasp.

The scorer of City's opener reacted angrily, pushing his former coach at the Etihad before pointing an angry finger in his face as he was approached. The coming together riled up both sides of the Emirates crowd but both parties managed to keep their cool amid the heat, just about.

And after the incident, City fans took to Twitter to discuss the clash.
