A dominant Celtic display had the pundits wowed as Rangers were told they've been given a short, sharp wake-up call.
What was expected to be a tight top of the table clash proved to be anything but as Ange Postecoglou 's side blew their opponents away in a dazzling first half.
Two goals from Reo Hatate sent Celtic on their way before Liel Abada capitalised on Borna Barisic's sloppy defending to make it three.
There was a reaction of sorts from the visitors after Gio van Bronckhorst made three half-time changes but it wasn't enough to stop their city rivals going top of the Premiership.
Here's what the Sky Sports pundits made of the match.
Ally McCoist
"We spoke about the wide players and I thought Jota, and in particular Abada on the other side, were terrific first half.
"The full-backs were excellent, by the way, I know Hatate got Man of the Match but I thought Juranovic was absolutely outstanding, I really did.
"Greg Taylor played well on the other side, Jota was different class. It was the complete reverse with Rangers.
"Two full-backs? Really poor. Two wide boys? Really poor. That's where I thought Celtic won the game.
"But, by the way, they won it in some style. First half in particular, excellent, Rangers were not a match for them and I said earlier if anything that is a real wake-up call for Rangers.
"For the first 10-15 minutes Celtic were bang at it. The energy levels... we spoke in the second half about how Rangers came into the game, and of course they came into the game, but one of the reasons was there was no way Celtic could match the energy levels they produced in that 45 minutes.
"Van Bronckhorst? He has to go in and have a meeting with those lads tomorrow afternoon. He needs to sit them down and show them that video, because there were out played and, worryingly, they were out-fought."
James McFadden
"The frightening thing is the manager said he (Hatate) miles off where he wants him to be in terms of his fitness.
"That is absolutely frightening because there is room for improvement, there always is, but he's been sensational.
"You talk about a guy coming from a totally different culture, to a speed of game that has been new to him and he looks like he's got so much composure, so much quality on the ball.
"Players like that know what the manager wants, they come in and they're willing to buy into it.
"This is a team you would love to play in: almost all-out attack for 90 minutes, as much as possible.
"Bear in mind this (Rangers) team is a team that went and won the league by 25 points last season, and that first half was outstanding.
"This team is still improving, they've still got Kyogo, Tom Rogic and David Turnbull to come back. They've laid a marker down, they won't stop.
"They won't relent, they won't give up, they'll keep going.
"It's a hell of a marker they've laid down for Rangers."
Kris Boyd
"It’s a wake-up call for Rangers … if Aberdeen and Ross County wasn’t enough.
“They came here and were second best, and that’s me being kind.
“In the first half Celtic absolutely blew Rangers away.
“I spoke about Celtic’s speed in attack but we thought if Rangers could deal with that they had their own threats.
“But I don’t think we saw anything from Ryan Kent.
“Amad Diallo was whipped off at half-time and we didn’t see much from him,
“Joe Aribo was quiet and Kemar Roofe didn’t really get into the game.
“It’s Celtic’s night. They have waited a long time but they deserved it.
“Rangers leaving with a 3-0 defeat was probably as good as it was going to get, as it could have been a lot worse.
"If it wasn't for Allan McGregor it could have been five or six at half-time.”
Stiliyan Petrov
"There were a lot of questions raised when (Ange Postecoglou) was appointed but they've got a manager who knows what he wants.
"He comes in and says, 'that's the way I'm going to play, let me bring my own players, let me bring my own stars. Players who fit into that system.
"We were talking about bringing players from Japan, but they know how he works. They know what his demands are.
"It's about doing the right things, even Maeda flying back (for the game) and he's aggressive. He probably had a pasta and a cold bath and he's right in.
"These are the players he brings, players who want to fight for the cause. And his cause is playing the right way and trying to win games."
Andy Walker
"I feel as though I've been at a Burns Supper tonight: We've had haggis, neeps and Hatates."
