27-year-old Spaniard Paula Badosa ended the 2024 season ranked as World No. 12. She also won the WTA Comeback Player of the Year award. Badosa has the game to beat any of the top players provided she stays healthy. A chronic back injury plagued her in 2023 leading some fans to question if she would ever make it back to play outstanding tennis.
Badosa won the Mubadala Citi Open in Washington, DC in August 2024, her fourth career WTA singles title. That win gave her momentum and confidence to finish the season on a high note, most notably with a quarterfinal appearance at the US Open.

What can tennis fans expect from Badosa in 2025?
Paula Badosa’s Australian Open Results Have Been Good
Badosa is a great hardcourt player. She advanced to the fourth round of the Australian Open in 2022 and the third round in 2024. With a higher ranking in 2025, she will get more favorable early-round match-ups which should help her conserve her energy and play less tennis until the later rounds.
Badosa could play her way into the quarterfinals or beyond at the 2025 Australian Open. She could gain valuable ranking points which will help her stay in the Top 20 and make a run at the Top 10.
Fast forward to Indian Wells in March. Badosa is a former champion and should be a contender.
Badosa Can Play Clay
Spaniards excel on the clay, and Paula Badosa is no exception. She was the 2021 French Open quarterfinalist. Iga Swiatek has had a stronghold at Roland Garros in recent years, but Badosa could surprise many who may not be focusing on her.
Wimbledon
Paula Badosa’s record at Wimbledon is the best of any Grand Slam. She is a three-time quarterfinalist (2021, 2022, and 2024). Her ranking could rise between the start of the year and Wimbledon because she has minimal points to defend. That could make her draw and early-round matches more favorable for a lengthy Wimbledon run.
Hardcourt Season
Badosa put everything together in Washington, DC last year. It was an Olympic year so several top players were in Paris and not in the DC draw. This will be her biggest challenge, defending the title and moving through the summer with good performances leading up to the US Open.
As long as her health issues are behind her, Paula Badosa could be the champion of multiple top WTA events in 2024.
