What Son Heung-min did to surprise young Tottenham Hotspur fan on her birthday

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-Min surprised a young fan on her birthday by sending her a special message. The clip, released by the club's social media team, shows the South Korea star waving at the young fan as he warms up. She is clearly delighted having been acknowledged by the Spurs star.

The footage - which can be found on the club's Instagram page - then cuts to the girl who’s at home just as she is told to check her messages on her tablet. To her shock there's one from Son wishing her a happy birthday, with the young fan left speechless by the heartwarming gesture.

Son has certainly been in fine form on the pitch as well as off it. After scoring a brace during Spurs’ 3-1 over West Ham on Sunday, the South Korea international took his tally to 13 Premier League goals this season, making him the joint-second highest goalscorer with Diogo Jota.

The win over the Hammers lifted Antonio Conte’s side up to fifth in the table, just three points behind Arsenal. However, their north London rivals do have a game in hand but are still yet to travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this season, after the game originally scheduled in January was postponed.

Manchester United are just a point behind Spurs and the race for fourth spot could well go down to the last day of the season. Securing Champions League football is pivotal to the immediate future of all three clubs, with the progress and ambitions of the two sides that ultimately miss out likely to to be severely hampered.

Spurs welcome Newcastle to north London after the international break on April 3, and could claim fourth spot with a win by two goals or more, with Arsenal not playing until the following day at Crystal Palace. The Lilywhites have been inconsistent of late but after winning successive games against Brighton and West Ham, they appear to be finding form heading into the business end of the season.
