The Pittsburgh Steelers currently hold the No. 17 pick in the 2023 NFL draft. Depending on how free agency goes and where the Steelers sit with the salary cap, that pick could be incredibly valuable for the future of the franchise.
But what will the Steelers do with it? With Pittsburgh also holding the No. 32 overall pick, the Steelers have a ton of leeway. If they see an elite player fall a little like Georgia defensive tackle or Ohio State Paris Johnson Jr., the Steelers might be tempted to move up.
On the flip side, if there is a run on a position of need prior to them going on the clock, the Steelers could easily trade back 8-10 spots and still get a similar talent. This would be particularly valuable if a quarterback falls and the Steelers can work a deal.
Or finally, Pittsburgh could just stay put and draft the top player on their board. With all new pieces in place in the front office, we look forward to seeing what direction they go.
