What’s wrong with clothes from M&S, Keir Starmer?

Can’t the Starmers afford their own clothes (David Lammy: PMs and partners rely on donors to help them ‘look their best’, 15 September)? The Kinnocks used to buy theirs in Marks & Spencer. When we lived near them in west London we would see Neil and Glenys in the store.

Well, this is confusing: I’ve had an email from my energy supplier saying that prices are going to rise due to global energy costs. At the same time, I’ve also had an email from my energy supplier in France saying my bill will fall due to falling global energy costs. They can’t both be right. Is privatisation in the UK the key, as firms are competing for a share of profits?

• While walking down a street in Santa Monica in 1980, I came face to face with a world-famous celebrity. He was friendly and in no hurry to end our chat. When finally I felt I should take no more of his time, he ended our meeting with a “wet fish” handshake (Letters, 13 September). Since then, I’ve never felt quite the same about Bob Dylan.
