Hey, did you know Victor Wembanyama is tall?
Yeah! He is!
OK, fine, let’s get serious. You know the San Antonio Spurs’ No. 1 pick overall in the 2023 NBA Draft is a seven-plus footer who has the skill set of someone smaller. But do you know his actual height?
That’s a question I had after seeing and hearing multiple answers in recent weeks, including from Wemby himself. So as we all marvel at how he towers over other tall people, I decided it was a good time to dig into the question that won’t stop being asked: Just how tall exactly is Victor Wembanyama?
MORE VICTOR WEMBANYAMA:
He's listed at 7-foot-4 by EuroBasket
That was the number we’ve seen listed in a lot of places over the past year. The Associated Press dug into this very problem we’re talking about, but the most common number was 7-foot-4.

But he's now listed at 7-foot-5
Uh … is that WITH shoes on??
Victor Wembanyama is the 2nd-tallest No. 1 pick in NBA history, behind Yao Ming at 7-foot-6.

Maybe he grew?
He’s 19 years old. That could explain it! But the long and, er, short of it is: It doesn’t matter. He’s very tall. He makes Rudy Gobert look “normal” sized.
Even 7'1" Rudy Gobert looks average next to Wemby 😳
