Star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown signed a historic, five-year, $304 million supermax contract extension earlier this week, instantly becoming the most lucrative contract in NBA history to date by doing so and sparking a fair amount of critiques from fans and analysts both.
The Georgia native secured a trade kicker for his new deal to give himself a modicum of control over potential trades to new ball clubs in future seasons (Brown cannot be traded for the whole of the 2023-24 NBA season after signing the contract extension) but no fifth-year player or team option was included in the deal either.
Some critics question the amount, but others praise his on and offcourt character.
