What's Next for Elon Musk After Naming New Twitter CEO

Elon Musk has officially named Linda Yaccarino, a former NBCUniversal executive, as the new CEO of Twitter. Musk will be stepping back from his role as chief executive, and will transition to executive chair and CTO covering "product, software and sysops." Yaccarino will take the helm in roughly six weeks.

Musk had made a handful of changes, many of which were not too popular, since taking over in October 2022. Musk previewed the move a few months later when he asked his 140 million Twitter followers if she should step down as Twitter CEO. An overwhelming majority voted yes.

J.D. DURKIN: After nearly a year at the helm, Elon Musk is now just like his 140 million Twitter followers, a user. Musk taking to Twitter to announce he's stepping down as CEO of Twitter and that a replacement CEO will take over in six weeks. While the new leader has not yet officially been identified, the Washington Post reporting that NBCUniversal advertising executive Linda Yaccarino is in talks to take over the role. Musk noted he won't be leaving the platform altogether. He plans to stay on as executive chair and as CTO. The move really should not come as much of a surprise. Elon Musk previewed the CEO change with a poll in December asking followers if he should step down as head of Twitter, to which 57% voted yes.
